Tuburan’s Agri-Fishery Trade Fair 2024 Commences!
In celebration of Philippine Nutrition and Agriculturists Month, the Municipal Agriculture Office, in strong partnership with the Municipal Health Office, has organized an eight-day Agri-fishery trade fair at Rizal Park. This event is a testament to the municipality’s commitment to promoting a healthy diet for Tuburanons through fresh, nutritious, affordable fruits, veggies, and fish products from our local farmers and fishermen. It’s also an excellent opportunity to recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of our local food producers in feeding the municipality and Cebuano.
The said trade fair was officially opened with a short program wherein Hon. Ray Matthew Laurel, the SB Councilor for Agriculture and Fishery, welcomed all guests and participants of the day’s event. Mr. Kent Marcial Catubis, the Municipal Agriculture Officer (MAO), acknowledged all the participants, guests, and invited contest judges before sharing the purpose of holding such an activity. Moreover, Vice-Mayor Danilo Diamante shares his words of inspiration and support to all participating farmers’ cooperatives and associations of the municipality. He emphasized the unwavering 101% support of Mayor Democrito ‘Aljun’ Diamante to all agricultural and fisheries programs and projects of the municipality, instilling confidence in the future of these vital sectors for the benefits and honor to fellow farmers and fishermen. Organic farming was also highlighted during the talks, especially, that the municipality envisions to be an Organic Municipality in the next five (5) years. Such farming system has been a crucial factor of achieving a safe and nutritious food, harm-free environment, and healthy Tuburanons.
Contests on the ‘Best Booth,’ ‘Pinaka-Contest (Biggest/largest farm and fishery produce),’ and the ‘Tilapia Cooking’ were also the highlights of yesterday’s event. Local farmers and fishermen exhibited their artistic side by beautifying their respective booths and showcasing their talents in cooking and innovating food products out of their farm produce.
