Town Parade Kicks Off Nutrition Month
The month of July is known nationwide as the month for nutrition. Practiced for quite some time, nutrition month is celebrated all over the Philippine archipelago. The celebration has lined up activities as highlights of the event.
Thru the joint efforts of Dr. Therence Cabahug and RHU Staff in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Tuburan, Nutrition Month Celebration is here once again as an advocacy program of the DOH.
This year`s theme is “Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong Ihain. The theme desires to convey to everyone the importance of incorporating vegetables in our daily diet.
A kick off parade held on the 2nd day of the month formally launched the month-long celebration. Despite the rain that poured heavily most since the morning, the parade pushed through at around 2:00 o`clock in the afternoon. It was participated in by the Department Heads of the LGU, Dep ED 1 & 2 School Heads with their students and pupils, CTU Professors and students, RHU 1& 2 Family, Tuburan PNP, and Tuburan Fire Station.
Among the contests included as highlights of the Nutrition Month Celebration are: 1.) Nutri Quiz 2.) Jingle Contest 3.) Poster Making Contest 4.) Balak Contest 5.) Slogan Making Contest 6.) Cooking Contest 7.) Healthy Baby Contest.
The contests, except for the latter, are open to all elementary and secondary students from the schools in the town with proper guidance from their respective coaches and/or mentors.
On July 27, 2012 is the culminating program. On the same day, the awarding of prizes for the different contests will be held.
