Barangay Supplemental Feeding Program


     Resolution No. 1011-0473, a resolution made by the Office of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) using Reimbursement Expense Receipt (RER) in the purchase of perishable items for the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).

     A total of P 1,582,825.00 was released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Region 7 to the municipality of Tuburan for the Supplementary Feeding Program. The said fund was approved and ready for use last October 6, 2011.

     All 54 barangays of the municipality received Supplementary Feeding Supplies. These barangays were clustered based on their location from the town proper for ease of supply delivery. The clusters are: CLUSTER 1- Pob 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8, Alegria, Carmelo, Cogon 1 & 2, San Juan, Mangga, Marmol and Molobolo; CLUSTER 2 – Daan Lungsod Apalan, Bagasawe, Macupa, Putat 1 & 2 and Kampoot; CLUSTER 3 – Tominjao, Siotes and Lusong; CLUSTER 4 – Sandayong, Kabkaban, Bulwang, Montealegre and Libo; CLUSTER 5 – Kalangahan and Amatugan; CLUSTER 6 – Colonia, Fortaliza, Maghan-ay, Kagbao and Antipolo; CLUSTER 7 – Jagbuaya and Sumon; CLUSTER 8 – Kan-an, Ga-ang, Mag-antoy, Caridad, Bakyawan and Kansi; CLUSTER 9 – Gimama-a, Mag-atubang and Mag-alwa; CLUSTER 10 – Kabangkalan, Tomugpa, Kanlunsing and Kamansi.

     The supplies are given to the Day Care Workers of each barangay. In turn, the Day Care Workers facilitated the feeding program. The present total number of enrollees determines the feeding budget each barangay receives. Each enrollee has a P10 budget allowance for each meal during school days. Meals are prepared by the mothers or guardians of the pupils from Mondays to Fridays. As of March 2012, 1553 children have been served nutritional recipes under the feeding schedule of the program.

     The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 has given prescribed nutritional recipes to be used all throughout the program. There are 20 healthy recipes stated. Out of the 20 nutritional recipes, only 5 were alternately implemented due to the availability of the ingredients of the selected menus. These are: 1.) Ground Pork Menudo with Mixed Vegetables 2.) Chicken Tinola with Mixed Vegetables 3.) Arroz Caldo with Chicken and Malunggay 4.) Pork Afritada 5.) Vegetable Lumpia. All of these menus are served with IRF or Iron-Fortified Rice.

     The program is in 8 months running time now. Target number of the feeding program is 100 meals per child given once a day. On the end of May 2012, the completion date, approximately 110 meals have been served, way beyond the target.
